Moored Between The Reeds

Have I mentioned before that I learn’t my photography by spending a many a misty dawn shooting landscapes on the Somerset levels?. I probably have and 20 odd years on I can still be found wandering the wetlands with my camera.

Although I have explored just about every corner of this area of Somerset it still inspires me to go out and look for new locations and shooting opportunities and I’m rarely dissapointed.

This image titled Moored Between The Reeds was shot on Shapwick Heath which is a RSPB (Royal Society For Protection Of Birds) area.

As often is the case with my work it’s been..ehh Tweaked shall we say to fit my interpretaion of the place as I see it rather than a straight record of the location as it existed.

Somerset has been my home since I was about 7 yrs old.

The Wetlands of Sedgemoor served as my photographic training ground where I would travel around at dawn & dusk both exploring and trying to master my craft.

Even today the same area of moors provide inspiration for my landscape photography and I never tire of re visiting locations and exploring new angles and light.

Some things here never change and I’m glad to say this old garage at Shapwick nr Glastonbury is one of them.

Heron

Another dawn sortie on the Somerset Levels.
I’m busy shooting for the exhibition Level Light and while out I spotted this huge Heron from a distance.I always try and keep my camera set for the unexpected shot so I was ready to pounce when this bird spotted me and took off.
I’ve added extra grain to this image as I feel digital images can sometimes be quite souless and I just love the textures I used to get with old emulsions like Agfa 1000 RS.
Anyway back to the Euro championships !
